Conocer como África genera una nueva perspectiva en los pensamientos de las personas, que sólo enfocan su visión a lo que desde años nos han venido enseñando, lo cual ha limitado nuestro conocimiento y el hecho de poder descubrir a un rico continente.
Oh well, I'm Victor from Brazil and i'm here(I was obligated by Adriana) to tell you all a little bit about how Africa was important to make up our country and our cultural identity.
ResponderEliminarActually Africans came to Brazil during the portuguese colonization to be used as slaves on our fields across the coast. I guess that Brazil was the country that most used africans as slaves, and as you can realize, they were treated as animals with no souls or aspirations. Many of them died during the trip from Africa due to the bad trip conditions.
But after Princess Isabel made a law, in portuguese "A Lei Áurea" in 1888, during the emperor, his father, Pedro II was in Europe, the slavery was abolished in all brazilian territory.
Anyway, now Brazil has a very large community of african descendants and we see their culture all over the country. Their dance and their music show people, who suffered and still suffer because of the discrimination we see in brazil and all across the globe, but who never gave up the fight.
Viva la África!!!
PS: Great blog, Adriana!! Congratulations on talking about this great continent!!
